Meet the Librarian
Ms. Powell says, "Howdy!"
Hello, Independence Eagles! My name is Ms. Powell, and I am your Library Media Specialist.
It is my pleasure to be a part of the Indy Eagle community, working with our students, teachers, and families.
I started in education as a fourth grade teacher for 12 years; and then the call of the library lured me out of a regular classroom and into the Library-Media Center classroom.
I started my university career as a Baylor Bear (Sic' em, Bears!) and finished earning my undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas. I continued at UNT to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Then, I returned to the life of a student again years later to earn a Master of Library Sciences degree from Texas Woman's University.
I am a proud Texan from multiple generations. But although I love Texas as home, I do also love to travel to other places. Some places I actually make it to, and others places I am able to travel to through the magic of reading!
I love working with our Eagles!
Reading, books, information resources, research, technology, digital citizenship.
Come visit the library! We'll learn from each other!
